Where the festival is still going on

The 22nd edition of Fotofestiwal is behind us – we would like to thank all the visitors, guests and partners who came. Many exhibitions from the City Program are still waiting for latecomers, inquisitive viewers and those who like to see the exhibitions once again.

After, among other things, thirty-three exhibitions openings throughout the city, it’s time for more festival events.


Weekend timetable!

Saturday is the time to see the exhibitions with the authors and curators – join us at 11:30 am for a guided tour with Chris Niedenthal at the Museum of the City of Lodz, followed by a series of meetings in the festival center space Art_Inkubator from 12:30 pm. At 13:00 in the theater room, a conversation between Zbigniew Libera and Daniel Muzyczuk, referring to the premiere of the artist’s new works


Opening of Odesa Photo Days, Month of Photography in Minsk & evening in the Biedermann’s Factory

Yesterday the Fotofestiwal kicked off at Art_Inkubator, Friday sees the opening of the second festival center OFF Piotrkowska, exhibitions by Chris Niedenthal, Grzegorz Przyborek and Zbigniew Libera, and in the evening the premiere location of Fotofestiwal – slideshows and a party at the Biedermann Factory.


Photographic Publication of the Year – results

With the opening of the 22nd edition of Fotofestiwal – the International Festival of Photography in Lodz, we got to know the winners of the Photographic Publication of the Year competition.


Little owls on t-shirts – charity

What kind of owls are these? Little owls. Where do they come from? From the Fortepan archive and the collections of Orientarium ZOO Łódź. What are they doing on the T-shirts? They’re collecting funds for the Polish Society for the Protection of Birds (OTOP).


Festival opening program

This Thursday, 15.06 at Art_Inkubator marks the 22nd opening of Fotofestiwal, the International Festival of Photography. Eight exhibitions: five from the Hope Program, six from the Open Program, as well as the exhibition Area: Warhol, Basquiat and Co. in the lens of Volker Hinz, and a guest group exhibition of Film School students – #Now.


The program of festival events

Lua Preta concert to open the festival, slideshows and a party at a new location: Biedermann Factory, the premiere of a film about Grzegorz Przyborek and a screening of a film about Nan Goldin, a performative book action with Iacopo Pasqui and an experimental exhibition in the Film Hall – we have announced the program of festival events. 


New works by Zbigniew Libera at Fotofestiwal

Achaeans, boys, Polish gold and Situationists – with this title Zbigniew Libera describes the photographs created especially for the Fotofestiwal, as well as works not yet shown, which we will see soon in the Wschodnia Gallery. We invite you now to this unique event and a meeting with the artist and curator of the exhibition, Daniel Muzyczuk.


Educational Program

It’s time for the educational program that has been created for years in cooperation with the University of Lodz. Registration has started for workshops – on social and ecological responsibility and visual activism, about the basics of photography, and dedicated to ecohydrology in the form of a walk along the Łódka River. Children are also invited to workshops on luxography prepared by the House of Photography.


Parties at Fotofestiwal

This year’s music program of Fotofestiwal includes line-up from international club scene, such as Lua Preta, BirdzZie or the Ohxala duo, slideshows and Karma She’s performance, and a new location – the former wool dyeing plant Biedermann’s Factory. We are also coming back after a break to the unique Willa in Żeromski Park and we cannot forget DJ set Disko Zakvas, i.e. a collective of fotofestival curators and producers.

City Program announced!

The largest retrospective exhibition by Grzegorz Przyborek with newest, never seen works, iconic frames of Polish reality of the 1970s and 1980s shown by Chris Niedenthal, as well as group exhibitions: students and graduates of the Film School, Academy of Fine Arts and the mentoring program Sputnik Photos. Among the group exhibitions, you will also see a unique effect of the activities of artists paying tribute to Bogdan Konopka. Fourteen exhibitions prepared by Łódź galleries and art institutions will enrich, as every year, the program of Fotofestiwal.

Фотографки запрошують молодь з України, Білорусі та Польщі віком від 14 до 18 років на майстер-класи з фотографії, які відбудуться з 30 квітня по 28 травня 2023 року у Лодзі.

Fotofestiwal joins the Fortepan Method project

Together we will create an international digital archive of the 20th century consisting of photos from the private collections. The Fortepan Archive began many years ago in Budapest. It was inspired by a plastic bag full of anonymous photographs found in a dumpster in Budapest.
