The Unheard Contradictions
contact@annalinderstam.se
Anna Linderstam creates silent dramas. Her work consists of highly controlled and emotionally charged scenarios of carefully staged collaborations with the subjects. The photographs are made with an 8×10 inch analogue camera to get highly detailed and precise portraits.
Taking the body as a responsive form, Linderstam explores mental states and conflicts through a performative process. Hypnoses, blindness and physical exertion have been used to disrupt the subject’s reference to common habits and emotional patterns. There is an ambiguity between the constructed situation and the actual physical state of the subject.
