On Friday, 2 October, we are starting the second part of Fotofestiwal. Visit ms1 to see the last exhibition of the Main Programme and make sure you don’t miss the accompanying exhibitions prepared by Łódź galleries – among them the exceptional one in the Motyl UŁ building, which
was opened specially for the Festival.

We are ending the story of the extraordinary collections with an exhibition titled Burning House. In the ms1 Museum of Art we will show a collection gathered Antoine de Galbert – a French promoter of art and an art dealer, founder of a private La Maison Rouge museum in Paris, with a collection of over 3000 exhibits. The collector is known for his unconventional approach to exhibiting his works. One of his exhibitions was prepared in cooperation with… an IT specialist, thanks to which the works were set according to an especially designed algorithm. The exhibition in the Museum of Art will reflect a radically different, humanistic criterion of selection. The exhibition will feature works by politically and socially engaged artists, including, among
others: Christian Boltanski, Boris Mikhailov, Jonathan Horowitz, David Goldblatt, Mikhael Subotzky and Yoho Tsuda. Burning House will tell you a story about our world, civilization and the history of the 20th and 21st centuries from the perspective of a crisis. Read more about the exhibition 👉here. The opening is available upon registration (by phone 665 180 083 & 605 060 063 or by e-mail: edu@msl.org.pl).

The very same evening, together with the University of Lodz, we will open yet another location – an antique tenement house at Sienkiewicza 21, where you can visit exhibitions prepared by the employees of the University, the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts and the Film School. We will be invited to see the photographic works discovered in the University’s archives, which are a part of the ethnographic and sociological research presenting the Polish countryside and the working-class architecture of Łódź. This exhibition will prove that archaeologists, geographers and botanists had a good eye for photograph, too. Moreover, on the second floor we will see the works of professionals in the field of visual arts affiliated with the universities: Dagmara Bugaj, Anna Bąk, Agnieszka Chojnacka, Artur Chrzanowski, Marek Domański, Bartłomiej Flis, Łukasz Ogórek, Anita Osuch, Maciej Rawluk, Dominika Sadowska or Dorota Stolarska. Agnieszka Obszańska will grace the opening of the second part of the festival with her music – we invite you to Niebostan starting from 11:00 PM on Friday evening. More about the exhibition KO#Lekcje in Motyl UŁ 👉here.

In the upcoming days, the galleries of Łódź invite you to exhibitions and openings. In PopUp Ogrodowa 8 from 7:30 p.m. we will see the premiere show of latest project by Jan Kazimierz Barnaś and Wojciech Kamerys from the Brave Boy Studio.  They will introduce us the world of Seto people living in isolation in Estonia. The very same evening and location we invite you for a slideshow of Belarusian photography with introduction by Andrei Liankevich from Sputnik Photos. Galeria Olimpus will show the works by Konrad Kuzyszyn, Galeria Mała Czarna – by Witold Gretzyngier, while Fundacja Działania invites you to see the photos by Dominika Sadowska. In the second half of October we will invite you to the Łódzki Dom Kultury Community Centre (ŁDK) for another set of exhibitions. All openings starting from October 1st you can follow here: 👉 here.
