Venice prom time

Venice prom time is a series of portraits set up and diverted from their original purpose. Inspired by the work of high society portraitists, it mocks what is socially at stake in this kind of representation of humankind, which usually is to give to the model an image of his own eternity.

That descendants should be able to identify the ancestors they have never known and find the dominant features of their race, the main point of High life (La Peinture Mondaine, P. Chaleyssin), is violated by a sudden intervention on the portrait masking the face, and thus the identity, of the model.

The series addresses the spectator with problems linked to time in photography (instant). The mask, by erupting in the portrait without changing its preciosity or the countenance of the model, gives access to reality through a more abstract way.
