Beside…

The idea to realise a project at the Arlekin Theatre was born quite spontaneously, unexpectedly and prosaic in some way. One day I was passing by the theatre building and I got intrigued by the atmosphere of that place. There was some sort of a unique invisible aura, which seemed to tell me that there’s something extraordinary going on right there. At first glance this place didn’t differ from any other in the neighbourhood.  The only thing that stood out were posters on the wall and two ropes with pennants above the street. But this feeling of some kind of magic, it hit me right there, not any other place that I have ever been in. While completing the project, I was mainly focusing on the aspect of interspersing both reality and the world of performances which were the work of actors, stage designers, directors etc. I was interested in all these things that are beyond the centre of attention of an average visitor. The theatre employees, who in fact are like one small artistic family, took part in this blending of two worlds, and that’s what led to many fascinating situations. Those situations were in large part responsible for the place’s magic. And because I was entertained by them and I could be right next to all those things that happened, I was the witness of it.
