Do

Do is the name I gave my lover a long time ago. In 2001 he passed away. On the day they buried him, I decided to make a book. A book about love and death. “Do”. I went back to our beloved places and tried to catch the images and atmosphere he must have been thinking of before he died.

“Do” is about keeping on living with a person who became a thought. It is about the unbearable passing of life.

Harold Pinter writes:

I know the place
It is true
Everything we do
Corrects the space
Between death and me
And you.

Most of the photos are made with a pinhole-camera, a little box without a lens and without a viewer. The exposures are long and you cannot control the image very much. You don’t make the photo, you receive it from the time that passes.
