Still Deads
I use photography to create a response – to take the weird, strange, morbid or unusual and transform them into beautiful macabre images. Nothing is created or manipulated in the darkroom or on the computer – the shapes, forms, and colors that appear in my work are strictly created by the relationships the specimens have with one another and their surroundings. My goal with this work is to explore a relatively unexposed world of animal preservation and manipulation after death – from the creation of photographs to the preservation of my own specimens – and challenge really how far one can push the idea of macabre beauty.
