Bryte and 19 exhibitions – Fotofestiwal opening program

This Thursday (13.06) is the 23rd opening of Fotofestiwal – the International Festival of Photography. We will open as many as nineteen exhibitions, and the evening will be highlighted by a concert by Bryte – a unique personality combining the musical traditions of Ghana with the club scene of Great Britain.

We start at 7:00 pm at Tymienieckiego 3. We are opening individual exhibitions from the Main Program, i.e. projects by Michalina Kacperak, Martin Kollar, Diego Moreno, Gloria Oyarzabal, Peter Puklus and Yorgos Yatromanolakis. It’s also the opening of a cross-sectional exhibition by Lukas Hoffmann and the first exhibition about photography – for children, titled Photography is Everywhere. Here you will see works by Kacper Kowalski, Karolina Jonderko and Irmina Walczak, among others, but also macro photography by Ireneusz Waledzik and Nasa photographs. The next six exhibitions are works selected from among 1,200 entries – the Open Program.

Then – the announcement of the results for the Photographic Publication of the Year 2024. In addition to the presentation of the awarded and honored books in the Photographic Publication of the Year 2024 and Dummy Awards, you will also be able to see books from Latin America, Ukraine and Belarus at the festival center.

After seeing the exhibitions, we hope you won’t let us down in front of the stage this time either! The opening concert will be performed by BRYTE – a rapper and vocalist from Accra (Ghana) who is based in London. He has developed a cult following due to his unique fusion of afro-electronic, rap and experimental club sounds from the UK, Ghana and beyond. His versatility can be seen in the five languages he raps in, and in his imaginative and hook-heavy lyrics.

Later in the evening, a DJ set will be presented by Laboratorio Tropical – a group of DJs, promoters of music and club culture of the countries of the Global South, mainly from Latin America and Africa. We are a very diverse group – there are people among us who find themselves best in genres like cumbia, reggaeton, baile funk, kuduro, afro house or post-club..
