Exhibition opening: LIGHT AND DARKNESS. Photographs by Bogdan Konopka
Bogdan Konopka’s retrospective exhibition consists of four clearly distinguished parts:
Baśń Polska is the last project fully prepared by Bogdan Konopka. It presents an original selection of photographs taken from the 1970s until the author’s last visit to Poland in 2018. The photographs from this series were published in the form of the album “Un conte Polonaise” (Delpire 2018).
Gray Memory is a selection from several very extensive series devoted to cemeteries of World War I victims, Jewish cemeteries and memorial sites for victims of fascism in Poland. These photos have not been shown together so far.
Part of French Tales presents photographs in a style characteristic of Konopka, focused primarily on the documentation of the material culture of the country in which he lived, while Light and Darkness is a selection of personal projects usually smaller in number, but especially important for the Author, some of which have not been shown in Poland so far. . We will see here formally diverse works, including non-camera abstractions.
