Assurance | group show

The exhibition is the result of cooperation between students gathered around the Institute of Photography and Multimedia of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. Exhibition entitled “Assurance” is an attempt to face imaging and technology in the process of creation. By examining the potential of cooperation between the two studios, we try to juxtapose visual responses and attitudes regarding the proposed slogan using various techniques. By developing their own, original method, the young artists, taking advantage of the opportunities and support offered by each of the studios, create coherent diptychs, creating new opportunities that support our place in the technological world of tomorrow. Technology has a huge impact on us, which often serves as a starting point and support for our creative process. Currently, the possibilities and methods of achieving the desired effects are limitless. Devices for recording images have long ceased to be only traditionally understood cameras or cameras. Wandering through the “ocean of possibilities” of creating images, we explore the blurred boundaries between language, photography and the latest media. Images produced by scanners, all kinds of cameras, 3D programs, or images processed or generated by algorithms – have become an integral part of our activities. Art and technology have never been opposing phenomena because they belong to the same cultural universe, which is why questions about the essence of this relationship are extremely important. Due to the fact that the digital image seems to have no materiality as a result of its lack of physical and tactile presence, it holds the potential for new creative possibilities. That is why the most important thing in the process of creating an exhibition is not the record itself, but what is hidden behind it, the way of approaching the subject or a certain choice.
