More than cinema. Fotofestiwal at Millennium Docs Against Gravity
Millennium Docs Against Gravity is a showcase of the season’s most talked-about, most daring, and most affecting documentaries — films about politics, ecology, relationships, identity, art, and the everyday lives of people whose stories too often remain out of frame. Fotofestiwal is once again partnering with MDAG.
On 15 May, we invite you to Bar Studio for a screening of Amma, Do Giraffes Cry? — a film that speaks directly to this year’s Fotofestiwal theme.
Following the screening, a panel discussion titled One, Two, Three… Who’s Looking? Us or the Animals? — Cinema and photography have long been devoted to animals with an almost boundless love, yet when we look at the images they leave behind, a question arises: who is really doing the looking? Are we watching the animals, or are they watching us? What separates these gazes, and what do they share?
That conversation will be joined by animal trainers and on-set animal handlers Agata Kordas and Marek Russo, alongside photographers Tom Swoboda and Piotr Płucienniczak.
