NURI and 18 exhibitions – Fotofestiwal opening program

This Thursday (12.06) is the 24th opening of Fotofestiwal – the International Festival of Photography. We will open as many as eighteen exhibitions, and the evening will be highlighted by a concert from a unique personality whose mix of organic and electronic productions will take us to a futuristic mood of progressive, polyrhythmic house-grooves.

We start at 7:00 pm at Tymienieckiego 3. We are opening individual exhibitions from the Main Program, i.e. projects by Salvatore Vitale, Maen Hammad, Michał  Sita, Debi Cornwall, Máté Bartha, Hoda Afshar and Yorgos Lanthimos.

It’s also the opening of the first exhibition for children totally dedicated to photobooks – titled Let’s Play Photobooks! Here you will see works by  Adam Broomberg & Oliver Chanarin, Dominika Czerniak-Chojnacka, Karl Čapek & Karel Teige, Claire Dé, Charles Fréger, Tana Hoban, Jan von Holleben, Eikoh Hosoe, Gabriele Lorenzer, Stefan Themerson & Franciszka Themerson, Jan Styczyński, Jaap Scheeren & Luke Stephenson, Martin Parr, Ylla, and many more.

The next six exhibitions are works selected from among 1,200 entries – the Open Program – Akshay Mahajan, Carlos Idun-Tawiah, Claudia Fuggetti, Emilia Martin, Hannes Jung, and Massimiliano Corteselli.

Then – the announcement of the results for the Photographic Publication of the Year 2025. In addition to the presentation of the awarded and honored books in the Photographic Publication of the Year 2025 and Dummy Award, you will also be able to see a selection of books from Palestine, the project of Jason Fulford Stack of Books and from Luciano Zuccaccia, a selection of protest photo books around the world from the Protestinphotobook collection.

After seeing the exhibitions, we hope you won’t let us down in front of the stage this time either! The opening concert will be performed by NURI – the tunisian musician who takes his African roots far into the future, spanning between organic, hand played percussion and spacy electronic soundscapes that connect an ocean of musical traditions. This is an invitation to a journey from crisp African beats to heavy jungle grooves and further into vivid folk singing spanning Africa to Asia.

Later in the evening, a DJ set will be presented by Bassa Nova – Wrocław-based trio of friendly, music-loving enthusiasts whose sets fuse club bass with dancehall, reggaeton, dembow, neoperreo, kuduro, amapiano, baile funk, afro-house, and Caribbean sounds.
