Photographic Publication of the Year competition has already started! (new deadline: 25 May)

Each year, Fotofestiwal begins with the announcement of the Photographic Publication of the Year – and in less than two months, it will happen again. This year, however, there will also be a jury that will award works in two categories: Photographic Publication of the Year 2022 – for books published in 2021 and PDF Book Mockup contest – for photo book designers. We have just started accepting contest entries!

This is already the 12th edition of the all-Poland competition organised this year by Fotofestiwal, Bookoff Artistic Bookstore and Służew Culture Centre. On 9 June, we will grant the Main Krzysiek Makowski Award and will announce the winning project in the PDF Book Mockup contest. The jury will also select at least ten publications and five book designs that will be exhibited during Fotofestiwal.

Until 25 May 2022, we are waiting for books focusing on photography – albums, catalogues, theoretical books, and textbooks, as well as limited self-publishing works and zines, and the designs of photographic books, which have not yet been published in print. In the Photographic Publication of the Year contest, we will award those publications that have the potential to inspire others and that present bold concepts, refined graphics, excellent print quality, exceptional photographs and are well-designed. Experts in book creation and photography have been invited to join the jury.

PDF Book Mockup contest has been invented with authors that have a design ready but have not found funding for the publication of their books yet. We want to award those projects that have the potential to become fully-fledged books and compete with other publications on the market. The winning mockup will be printed in a few copies, which will help the author look for the publisher, financing for printing, or participate in international competitions for photo book mockups. In this part of the competition, we have invited people involved with designing, editing, and printing books to the jury.
