No ba! Online film screening

Starting from today, you can watch online a film whose last year’s screening filled with audience the Flea Market at Dolna-Ceglana marketplace. Produced by Fotofestiwal, NO BA! GROZI ZAWALENIEM LUB OŚWIECENIEM/DANGER OF COLLAPSE OR ENLIGHTENMENT, FOR SURE by Łukasz z Bałut will be available until 26 June.

Łukasz z Bałut is an artist who, for years, has been consistently promoting the unobvious beauty of his district in his own signature style, full of self-irony and, at the same time, tenderness for this place. Therefore, asking Łukasz to direct the film produced for last year’s Fotofestiwal, which was devoted to Łódź, was just a matter of formality. In this medium-length documentary, the director together with artist Kacper Zaorski wander around partially abandoned buildings and talk to the inhabitants about the changing face of the area. The memories of the residents of Bałuty tenements correspond in a surprising way with the theme of this year’s festival: COMMUNITY. Are we still able to create housing communities? How did we use to define a neighbor in the past, and how do we do it now?

We have decided to make the film available online for everyone who wants to go back to this touching documentary and experience it from a new perspective, or who did not manage to watch it last year. It is available online on Fotofestiwal’s Youtube channel until 26 June. At the same time, we invite you to other film screenings related to this year’s festival motto.

The screening of “No ba!../DANGER OF…” will also correspond with the presentation of the documentary Bloki and a discussion panel on the role of architecture in creating communities (with Marta Zabłocka, Joanna Erbel and Beata Chomątowska, 23.06 18:30). We also recommend to see the student documentary “Oddech/Breath” about meetings and conversations recorded during the construction of a temporary brine graduation tower at a housing estate in Łódź (19.06 19:00).
