The originator and the first organizer of the contest was Krzysiek Makowski – bookseller and publisher, from the now-defunct F5 Bookstore. He managed to organize only two editions before his death – in 2009 and 2010. From 2013, the competition is organized jointly by the Fotofestival International Festival of Photography in Łódź, the Bookoff Bookshop and the Place of Photography. We want the competition to stimulate creators to act and ambitious searches. That, in its effect, publishers and authors would boldly and creatively approach the medium of the book. In previous years, the exhibition of awarded and honored books could be seen during the Festival of Photography in Łódź, TIFF Festival in Wrocław and the Museum of Modern Art during the Warsaw Art Book Fair.
