Acts of Disappearance

Morten Barker, Hiroshima Mon Amour

The exhibition captures ephemerality of photography, the possibility of making the visible invisible that transcends the mere action of recording luminous emission on film.

Acts of Disappearance is an exhibition that captures ephemerality of photography, the possibility of making the visible invisible that transcends the mere action of recording luminous emission on film. A point of departure for the project were the notions of transience and impermanence of landscape.

The consumption and production of images both exert a palpable impact on the world. The role of photographer goes beyond their commentary on the fleeting nature of things and documentation of the world. The photographer must direct our gaze since observation is an integral part of ecology.

The interdisciplinary art installation featuring the works of Nuno Barroso, Emanuel Cederqvist, Ida Nissen, Joshua Phillips, Morten Barker and Thomas Wynne will be presented within the framework of Parallel – European Photo Based Platform.

Curated by Bruno Humberto
