DISCOVER THE SIX PRESENTATIONS:
Wiktor Jekimenko, Energy of Time. Veolia Archive
“The Energy of Time” is a hypnotic journey to early 20th-century Łódź – an industrial study of a city living in a constant struggle for modernity, driven in part by the construction of one of the first municipal power plants, EC1, on Targowa Street. This very investment enabled the widespread electrification of the city, including the launch of street lighting and the powering of Łódź’s electric trams. The entire process was documented by Wiktor Jekimenko on glass-plate negatives, which remained unknown for years before being rediscovered in 2010.; and are currently held in the Veolia Archive collections.

Picture Doc Foundation
Two screenings prepared by Picture Doc Foundation, the Warsaw-based organisation that develops its own projects while supporting artists in the production and presentation of their work through close dialogue and collaboration. It brings projects together into thoughtful curatorial narratives, shaping them into exhibitions and publications.
Screening 1 – Borderlands
This screening features two emerging artists from the Borderlands programme who explore our responsibility for the world through distinct artistic lenses, confronting the contemporary reality shaped by war, environmental crisis, and the need for new ways of storytelling. Marcin Korbus – Backups of War: Utilizing virtual and augmented reality built from authentic 3D scans, Korbus creates a moving narrative about memory, violence, and the consequences of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine. Damian Wis – Remedium: a photographic project documenting scientists restoring post-industrial mining sites in Silesia. Wis questions whether human technology can heal the environments we have destroyed, offering a story of hope and responsibility.

Screening 2 – Solomiya
A photography screening presented in collaboration with the Kyiv-based Solomiya Collective, founded following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The collective publishes Solomiya Magazine, which uses innovative photographic storytelling to capture everyday life during wartime, amplify hidden voices, and redefine who documents contemporary history. The screening features works by seven artists selected from the magazine’s issues: Sasha Kurmaz, Sebastian Wells, Vsevolod Kazarin, Lesha Berezovsky, Maxim Dondyuk, Katia Motyleva, and Daria Svertilova. Told from the inside by individuals who are both witnesses and participants, these photographs create a powerful, collective story about war, memory, resistance, care, and the future.
