What to expect across \u0141\u00f3d\u017a in the upcoming edition of Fotofestiwal!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A concert-performance by Hania Rani alongside multimedia screenings based on the latest project by Sir John Akomfrah, “Listening All Night To The Rain,”<\/em> is this year’s special gift to the audience for the 25th anniversary of Fotofestiwal. But there is more in store! The faces of female prisoners of the regime in an installation by Sasha Velichko, Poland’s first-ever exhibition of the most iconic events of US last decade by Philip Montgomery, Taiwanese cinema in a historic YMCA swimming pool, and a colorful exhibition of show birds in a grand outdoor format\u2014the upcoming Fotofestiwal will once again take over the entire city of \u0141\u00f3d\u017a through its City Program.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opening event (June 18, Fuzja) is not one to miss: a special audiovisual performance by Hania Rani accompanying the multimedia screening of Sir John Akomfrah<\/mark><\/a>\u2019s Venice Biennale piece, \u201cListening All Night To The Rain.\u201d<\/em> Patroned by PKO Bank Polski, this audiovisual installation will remain open as an audiovisual installation from June 19th to 24th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also at Fuzja, Helena Majewska\u2019s exhibition \u201cBetter \u2018magua\u2019 than pain\u201d<\/mark><\/a><\/em> chronicles a visual shift from club crowds to silent landscapes, featuring a custom soundtrack by Pointless Geometry (FOQL and Dariusz Pietraszewski). While at Koncept Gallery stands the PKO Bank Polski-patroned exhibition \u201cEclipse\u201d<\/mark><\/a><\/em> featuring Adrian Chmielewski\u2019s underground club culture photography. In collaboration with the Audioriver festival, this opening will be accompanied by Rusa\u0142ka DJ set. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The City Program: 12 exhibitions in unique venues<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Hilary Majewski Tenement House <\/strong>hosts \u201cHallucinations of the Image: Polish Photography after AI\u201d<\/mark><\/a><\/em> (curated by Adam Mazur), a collective exhibition exploring artificial intelligence as a creative tool, featuring prominent artists like Pawe\u0142 Bownik, Weronika G\u0119sicka, and Szymon Rogi\u0144ski.  The same venue also features Sasha Velichko\u2019s \u201cCalled on the Carpet\u201d<\/mark><\/a><\/em> (Fotofestiwal Grant 2026), an empathetic installation of hand-woven portrait carpets dedicated to female political prisoners in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Art Propaganda Center (City Art Gallery in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a<\/strong>) <\/strong>presents \u201cAmerican Cycles\u201d<\/mark><\/a><\/em> by the renowned photojournalist Philip Montgomery\u2014the first comprehensive Polish showcase of his stark, black-and-white documentation of a turbulent decade in United States of America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ba\u0142ucka Gallery (City Art Gallery in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a<\/strong>) <\/strong>features Karolina Gembara\u2019s \u201cA Mind of Winter\u201d<\/mark><\/a>,<\/em> an intimate exploration of trauma and post-memory related to historical displacement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chimera Gallery (City Art Gallery in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a<\/strong>)<\/strong> hosts Igor Omulecki\u2019s \u201cDADA ZOO\u201d<\/mark><\/a>,<\/em> focusing on the symbolic figure of the animal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biederman Palace (one of this year\u2019s festival centers <\/strong>showcases several projects. From Alisa Martynova\u2019s solo project \u201cCOSMOGONIE\u201d<\/mark><\/a><\/em>, blending visual research with AI to question identity to Marcin Sudzi\u0144ski\u2019s \u201cBlack Light: Strokes of Time\u201d<\/mark><\/a>,<\/em> an installation that tackles theological inquiries and the origins of image-making. Still at the place, curators Karol J\u00f3\u017awiak and Jakub Krakowiak present the multimedia exhibition \u201cAndrzej R\u00f3\u017cycki: Film and Ethnosophy,\u201d<\/em> exploring the artist ethnographic legacy. Meanwhile, Augustin Rebetez\u2019s ‘very charming cats’ add some life to the Palace attic, accompanied by wild videos, epileptic animations, photographs, objects, and drawings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YMCA Swimming Pool <\/strong>present us with \u201cKINO Utopia \u5947\u5f71\u70cf\u6258\u90a6\u201d<\/mark><\/a><\/em> \u2014 a showcase of Taiwanese films by Ying-Ju Chen, Kuang-Yu Tsui, and Jui-Chung Yao that explore national identity, accompanied by hand-painted posters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
