In an age of endless scrolling, are we still capable of truly looking? Does photography still need paper when every image fits inside a smartphone? Or perhaps that is precisely why printed publications, photobooks, and photography magazines are experiencing a renaissance?

As part of Fotofestiwal, the panel discussion The Screen Ate the Print. What Comes Next? will bring together representatives of some of Poland’s leading photography and culture magazines to discuss how the digital revolution has transformed visual culture and what lies ahead for print media.

The panel features:

  • Iga Trydulska – managing director of K MAG
  • Karolina Mazurkiewicz – art director of Pismo
  • Ewa Dyszlewicz – editor at Mint Magazine
  • Marcin Matuszak – art director, photographer, and editorial team member of Kwartalnik Fotografia
  • Przemek Bociąga – founder and publisher of Analog

Photography magazines continue to bring together communities of passionate readers and image-makers, photographic prints have become symbols of conscious collecting, and photography festivals attract audiences seeking experiences that go beyond the smartphone screen.

For 25 years, Fotofestiwal has witnessed successive technological and cultural “revolutions” — from analogue photography, through the digital era, to the dominance of social media. How has the way we look at images changed? When do we truly see, and when do we merely consume content? And what future awaits paper in a world where everyone can take a photograph, yet fewer and fewer people seem to have the time for sustained attention?

These are the questions we will explore together.

The panel will offer an opportunity to discuss the future of photography, the role of independent media, changing audience habits, and why a physical encounter with an image remains an important cultural experience. Join us!

The event is held in polish.
