Yorgos Lanthimos was born in Athens, Greece. A versatile creative, in addition to directing dance and music videos, TV commercials, short films, and theatre plays, he has also photographed editorials and fashion campaigns. His breakthrough came with the film ‘Dogtooth’ (2009), earning an Un Certain Regard Prize at Cannes and an Oscar nomination. ‘The Lobster’ (2015) won a Jury Prize at Cannes and the European Film Awards. This was followed by ‘The Favourite’ (2018) which earned Olivia Colman an Oscar. His film, ‘Poor Things’, won Venice’s Golden Lion and four Oscars. ‘Dear God, the Parthenon is still broken’, published by Void is Lanthimos’ first photography monograph, having also published a second photography book: ‘i shall sing these songs beautifully’ (MACK).

Kuba Mikurda is a director and a film scholar. His documentaries have been acclaimed by audiences and critics alike. Kuba’s 2018 debut film, Love Express: The Disappearance of Walerian Borowczyk, produced for HBO, won the Chopin’s Nose award for the best documentary about music or art at the 15th Millennium Docs Against Gravity festival. His second film, Escape to the Silver Globe, about the turbulent history of the Andrzej Zulawski film On the Silver Globe, received numerous awards and was one of the most talked-about films of 2021 in Poland.
Kuba has traveled a unique path, from acclaimed film critic to creator of award-winning documentaries. He didn’t graduate from film school; he studied psychology and philosophy and is a self-taught filmmaker. Kuba has worked at Canal+ Polska and now teaches at the National Film School in Lodz, where he runs the Essay Film Studio.
