Everyone is invited to discuss the importance of photographic archives in contemporary creative activities. The meeting is addressed both to people from various creative, curatorial, research and archival disciplines and to anyone interested in the subject of the creative use of archives. We would like to reflect together on the role of archival materials in the creative process, share questions and answers, and talk about our ideas.

The event accompanies the exhibition “Photosophical Activities: the Sampler”, where students of the Łódź Film School bring to life the archival material of one of the most valued Łódź photographers, Andrzej Różycki. They adapted the same method of work as Różycki, who for his FotoAndrzejoZofia series entered into both personal and artistic dialogue with photographer and his close friend Zofia Rydet, making collages using her and his own photographs. This very gesture – awakening the memory of the deceased close one – was reimplemented by young artists today.
