“Kotarbiński” is a story about Tadeusz Kotarbiński – a philosopher, educator, the first rector of the University of Łódź, and above all, a man who believed that a university should be a community founded on respect, integrity, and the courage to speak the truth.

Using archival film and photographic materials, animations, and images processed through artificial intelligence, the film creates an unconventional, moving portrait of a thinker whose worldview combined rigorous logic with deep humanism. The filmmakers also incorporate original recordings of Kotarbiński’s voice, and where unavailable, employ a synthetic reconstruction.

Directed by Julia Klewaniec, with music composed by Miłosz Kowalewski and edited by Maciek Bernaś, the film is not a traditional biography, but a visual meditation on the values of truth, freedom, care, and decency – the foundations of a conscious and socially engaged life.
