Exhibition opening: That sounds great – Katarzyna Serkowska
Katarzyna Serkowska is the laureate of the Rector’s Award of the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź in the Art Universities Review 2023. The audience has selected her project for individual presentation as part of this year’s festival.
Świetnie to brzmi / That sounds great is a story of remembrance, memories, and the experience of loss.
The exhibition space becomes a place of personal memories, quiet whispers, sudden explosions of emotions, made even more powerful by the majestic glory of nature. Distorted fragments of frames from a tape-recorded film are also turned into photographs.
Those single frames, like unfinished conversations, become a tangible trace of that which passes, but is never forgotten. Sound and vision continuously attempt to save the most valuable thing – the echo of the person we cannot forget.
