SpinOFF 2025 begins – more than 20 exhibitions spread around Lodz.
Believe it or not – Fotofestiwal is just the beginning. The belief that Lodz hides infinite artistic potential has resulted in the second edition of SpinOFF Lodz: a sister brand or the umbrella promotion of the most interesting urban and independent creative initiatives going on in June. The opening is coming: next Tuesday.
The size of the event once again exceeded our expectations. This year’s SpinOFF features more than 20 photographic and multimedia exhibitions that will fill the city with creative energy. This year’s partners include Jan Brykczynski with “The Gardener” at MSK Polesie, Tomek Albin with his intriguing doctoral project “Colores Absentes” at Galeria Szklarnia, and Magdalena Skotnicka, whose performance and exhibition “Dance Strings Attached” will inaugurate the festival at MSK: Chojny. The same place where – during the opening of SpinOff – you can also experience Jakub Nowaczyk‘s deeply personal and sensitive project “Dark Thoughts”, which digs into memories and family secrets.
The schedule of events is a real tour throughout the city and non-obvious or non-traditional locations, such as “KEYWORD” – an exhibition at the intersection of art, photography and street art – taking over the concrete fence of the amphitheater in Baden-Powell Park; or “Wanderlust” in Park Źródliska, a review of travel photography with a picnic and tasting prepared by the duo Piotr Matkowski and Ewa Sad. And a finale in the abandoned YMCA swimming pool with the performative fashion show “Fashion Leak”.
More exhibitions include Olga Urbanek with “Delusion” at S35 Gallery, Wojciech Bryndel‘s “Paranormal” at Fuzja, the returns of Mateusz Pecyna with “Ex-Utero” at Olimpus Gallery and Kalina Kazimierczak and the “The Great Feast” performance in the MS1 gardens. Also to highlight is the finale of the thirteenth edition of the Sputnik Photos Mentorship Program at the Academic Design Center on Księży Młyn, where seventeen artists will present their unique perspectives on contemporary photography. Joining the initiative are, among others: Academy of Fine Arts Gallery, Niebostan, House of Literature, Biblio-Art Gallery, Fundacja Działania, Mała Czarna Gallery, AHE Patio 2 Gallery.
In addition to the main events, SpinOFF partners have prepared a rich program of accompanying events, workshops and curator tours.
