A non-obvious portrait of Polish families

We are looking for cosplayers and their families willing to take part in uncanny photoshoot. Together we’re creating a news chapter of project They don’t look like me.

The They Don’t Look Like Me project – from Fotofestiwal’s Save The Date campaign – by Niccolo Rastrelli portrayed cosplayers from Japan, Nigeria, Italy and India in a non-obvious way. Thanks to that photos have appeared in global media and at photography and comic book festivals across Europe. You can read more about this project HERE.

We would be honoured if you joined us in developing this project for its Polish chapter. The photoshoot will take place in Łódź and Warsaw during the last week of March.

We are not exclusively looking for professional cosplayers – what matters most is genuine passion and a minimum level of experience.

What to expect at the photoshoot?

The family portraits will be taken inside your homes, with family members, in a room that best suits the shoot to ensure the best result.

Professional flash lighting will be used, and at the end of the photo session, the cosplayer will take part in a short interview (5–6 questions)  to create the caption that will accompany the photo. The estimated time to complete both the photoshoot and the interview is between 2 and 3 hours. Lastly, all participants will be required to sign a release form authorizing the use of their images. Participation is voluntary, and there is no fee.

How to participate?

Sent us an e-mail at cosplay@fotofestiwal.com with the following information:

– a short description of yourself (age, how long you have been cosplaying);

– a photo of the costume you would like to wear at the photoshoot;

– information on which family members might be willing to participate (how many people/animals?);

– your location (Łódź, Warsaw, or nearby? which district?).

Thank you in advance for your trust!

The project aims to introduce cosplay to a wider audience through magazine editorials and worldwide exhibitions. The premiere of the Polish photos is planned for Fotofestiwal 2025 in Łódź, along with partnership of the International Festival of Comics and Games.
