The final weekend of Fotofestiwal
The last weekend of the Fotofestival is ahead of us, which does not mean that not much is happening. We invite you to the film screening and meeting with Forensic Architecture, another film screening which this time celebrates the 50-year career of Martin Parr’s and a very special tour on the Temporary Headquarters of the Institute of Photographic Memory and Post-Archival Amnesia Syndrome. On Saturday, the festival dance floor will be warmed up for the last time by Disko Zakvas at Willa, and on Sunday our emotions will be calmed by the live set of Zaumne.
On Saturday, at 4pm, we will meet at the theatre room in Art_inkubator for a film screening and a meeting with Natalia Śliwińska from Forensic Architecture (meeting in polish). This research agency, based at Goldsmiths, University of London, is dedicated to developing and employing innovative methods for investigating state and corporate violence. Fotofestiwal will showcase the movie ‘When it Stopped Being a War…’: The Situated Testimony of Dr Ghassan Abu-Sittah (2024, 25’, english language with polish subtitles).

Later that day, at 7pm the meeting point is at Super Pop-Up (Kilińskiego 141). Fotofestiwal and the artist Jacek Laube invite for the opening of the Institute of Photographic Memory – a unique space that will exist for exactly 2 hours as an artistic gesture examining the mechanisms of institutional memory. This moment will combine elements of exhibition, performance, and curatorial reflection on the ephemerality of contemporary cultural institutions.
And for the perfect closure, Saturday night offers the annual performance by Disko Zakvas, a unique DJ collective of curators, producers and specialists of all kinds of cultural events. They are drawn towards world music, 80’s and conservative techno. They are characterized by their colorful outfits and the fact that they keep discovering new functions for the buttons on the DJ table. We dance at the Willa in Poniatowski Park from 10pm (Żeromskiego 117).

We know that after such a night, getting up in the morning is not a priority, so a curatorial tour of the exhibitions in Art_inkubator starts by 12pm and later on at 2pm. By the end of the afternoon, at 6pm, Art_inkubator theatre room showcases I am Martin Parr, the documentary of Lee Schumman that celebrates the 50-year career of the photographer (2024, 67’) and we end the festival program with the mesmerizing concert of Zaumne at 7:30pm – the closing event of the 24th edition of Fotofestiwal – International Festival of Photography in Lodz.

See you on the festival track!
