An exhibition presenting primarily album covers designed by Warhol, which is a less known episode of his work and in fact his first paid work.
From the earliest – with Mexican folk music from 1949 to posthumous, using Warhol’s drawing on a charity compilation for MTV. Warhol’s achievements are also covers – icons – the famous banana on the album “Velvet Underground and Nico”, authentic zipper sewn into jeans on “Sticky Fingers” Rolling Stones, or a series of portraits for albums, among others Diana Ross, Paula Anki and Aretha Franklin. It’s all surrounded by Warhol’s poetics of the interior, with artifacts belonging to the era and the artist’s unique mock humor and soundtrack from vinyl records.
Andy Warhol, an artist in every sense of the word. One of the most important representatives of pop art, draughtsman, painter, sculptor and designer, but also film and television director, mentor and music producer, performer, photographer, fashion designer, press publisher and computer graphic designer from the very beginning of this field of art. Follower of mass culture reflecting contemporary consumerism, owner of Factory atelier, one of the most important artistic crucibles of the second half of the 20th century.
