Alnis Stakle is an artist, an educator and a curator at Riga Photmonth. Riga Photomonth is an international photography festival in the capital of Latvia. He is a founder and director of the bachelor’s study programme in photography at Riga Stradins University. His work is included in several private and public collections and has been exhibited widely, including solo exhibitions at the Latvian Museum of Photography, Latvian National Museum of Art, The Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art, Mark Rothko Art Centre in Daugavpils, Latvia, Modern Art Oxford, Art Center ‘Winzavod’ in Moscow, Centre for Fine Arts BOZAR in Brussells.
“As curator, artist and educator I’m interested in the contemporary and always changing conditions of the photographic language and materiality. In the so called era of post-truth and fake news the role of photography in arts, journalism and private communication changing rapidly. As curator I’m especially interested in photographers works related to Post-Soviet states”.
