A documentary that delighted the audience of this year’s Cannes and a trip to the sources of the Yangtze River in the Tibetan Plateau – this is the film-closing of the Fotofestiwal!
“Visages Villages” is the latest work of Agnes Varda. French photographer and award-winning film director, representative of the French New Wave and the street and graffiti artist hiding under the initials JR meet in front of the camera to go on a journey through the French provinces in a van converted into a gigantic camera. She is almost 90 years old while he is 33 but what connects them is the love for art and image. It is a wonderful record of the intellectual and humorous dialogue between two incredibly interesting artists.
The pre-premiere screening of “Visages, Villages” will take place on 1st of July at 7.15 pm in the Art Incubator (Tymienieckiego 3, theater room, building c, ground floor) in cooperation with the Transatlantyk Festival in Łódź. The entry is free.
A moment earlier, at 5:00 pm, we invite you to the Museum of Cinematography (Plac L. Kaczyńskiego 1, former Zwycięstwa Square) for the journey on the largest Chinese waterway and the screening of “Crosscurrent”. The majestic beauty of natural landscapes and extensive industrial places are breathtakingly captured in the photos of Mark Lee Ping-bing who was awarded the Silver Bear on Berlinale.
