We encourage you to send books for the next edition of the Photographic Publication of the Year competition. Until May 15, 2018, we are waiting for those of them in which photography is central: albums, catalogs, theoretical studies, textbooks and limited self-publishing and zine releases.
We will reward those publications that may become an inspiration for others to undertake their own creative work, and which present bold concepts, refined graphics, perfect print, unique photos and thoughtful design. Experts professionally involved in the creation of books and photography were invited to the jury.
The Main Prize of Krzysiek Makowski will be awarded in the competition. In addition to winning the publication, the jury will also select at least 10 titles, which from 21 June to 1 July 2018 will be presented at the Fotofestiwal in Łódź.
The Main Prize of Krzysiek Makowski will provide:
– title of Photographic Publication of the Year 2018,
– book promotion as part of this year’s Fotofestiwal – exhibition and author meeting.
For the first time, the winner will also choose the audience.

The originator and the first organizer of the Photographic Publication of the Year was Krzysiek Makowski – publisher and bookseller of the now-defunct F5 bookstore, which before his death managed to prepare only two editions – in 2009 and 2010. From 2013, the competition is organized jointly by: Fotofestiwal, the International Festival of Photography in Łódź, the Bookoff Bookshop and the Place of Photography. We want the Photographic Publication of the Year to stimulate creators to act and ambitious searches, and as a result, publishers and authors are boldly and creatively approaching the medium of the book. In previous years, the exhibition of the awarded and honored works could be viewed during the Festival of Photography in Łódź, the TIFF Festival in Wrocław and the Museum of Modern Art – during the Warsaw Art Book Fair.
