Jens Erdman Rasmussen

“I studied photography in Paris and Prague – both practice and theory. But I realized that I am not a good photographer, so my only hope was to become a curator. And so I became the boss of the National Museum of Photography in Copenhagen, working with both artworks and archive material. As often as possible I would mix pure art with cultural history, thus investigating and presenting photography from many angles and intermingling Photography-as-art with Photography-as-document. Later I turned to capitalism and became the Gallery Director at Peter Lav Gallery, with emphasis on working with the artists rather than with clients. In my spare time, I worked independently as a curator, teacher and critic. This has now grown in volume, allowing me to quit my day-job and work full time with what I love: making exhibitions, working closely with artists and talking and writing about art. A lot.”
