On the walls of one of the cooling towers at the former EC1 heat and power plant, we are going to see large-format photographs from the the times of EC1 development, industrial landscapes and portraits of the builders. The author of these photographs is Wiktor Jekimenko.
In the first half of the 20th century, Łódź developed rapidly and dynamically. Tens of factories needed electricity, which was provided by the then-modern EC1 power plant. Subsequent stages of the plant construction, proud faces of employees and impressive machines were photographed by Wiktor Jekimenko, who with extraordinary accuracy immortalized these moments on glass negatives. This has created a unique collection of more than 2000 photographs, which is located in the archive of Veolia Energia Łódź – the supplier of system heat and the heir of more than 100-year history of the Łódź power industry.
